Tekong so far. and many 1st times
Saturday, November 6, 2010 /10:58 PM

wow din touch this blog for 2 months le. yep shows that im back to my slack self again.

haha POP-ed successfully from SCS, seen the last of pasir laba camp for my NSF life i guess. the day of posting was epic. really epic because i almost tio charge together with a group of friends. really lucky to escape that and many thanks to those who showed support right from the start, and those who hum ji stay at the back de, boo.

i guess its really too late now to say all these, but i really treasure all the times i spent with the crazy platoon 2 section 1 guys of Juliet coy... 4 months is definitely more than enough for us to bond together, considering all the times was shared. The many outfields, route marches and admin time we spent together. You guys are the reason i managed to survive all the tough training, unreasonable times. you guys are what that made my life in scs memorable, fun and meaningful. although now we will go in our seperate ways, im very sure this bond is not something that will decay along with time. I really hope the next time we meet, we will still share the same feelings for each other and have lots of things to tell each other. =)

Having to post to tekong, my life now is certainly much better. freedom like never before was given to us, as well as book outs. haha so much that we din even bother going nights out for like countless times. Rocky hill gave me a bad impression at first, but we discovered the beauty of it in less than 2 days. the horror movies and spoilt foosball table, and working table tennis table in 2nd coy annex room. the internet connection in 6th coy annex room. the squash courts with no working lights. super accessible gym and multipurpose hall. haha i really will miss these freedom when the recruits come in on tues.

last week and this week was epic. the amount of $$ spent was also epic. Me, bay and bowen went ice skating last sunday. it was my 1st time ice skating and i really dunno alot of stuffs, like need gloves and how falling will make ur butt wet. but have rollar bladed before, i can grasp the skills to iceskate pretty easily and managed to try out a few tricks. will love to do that again next time when i have the $$ again =). on the side note, curse the stupid admin people that gives sol to people. unfair bitches that dun care about the lives of people they judge. hope they will have a taste of their own medicine next time.

haha went butter fac yesterday. 1st time too. really an experience of my life to see such wild people, and also the high-ness of alcohol, feels good =). but the only thing i will say is, its not worth the money. at least not for this time. i will rather go eat another fish and co with the money. haha hope next time will be better.

recruits coming in alrdy!! it marks the end of my wake up at 8am life, and i have to camo on on monday!! With FBO!! fml man. dunno how long since i FBO camo on alrdy. sigh just my luck. =(

Back! 3sg in less than 3 weeks!

woo hoo! i nv expect to survive so well in taiwan XD. well what i can type here is limited.

1st of all, taiwan's weather is all out to f us up. it gets bright like 5am in the morning, still quite warm and nice from 5~9, to becoming unbearably hot from 9~3, with the temperature reaching up to 38 degrees (?). Then it starts to get cloudy, and rains (or pours) for 2 hours. and then the cold night starts, luckily goretex was there to save me from the cold wind.

2ndly, someone must have placed an anti typhoon shield around taiwan. i mean, what are the chances of having 5 typhoons form up near taiwan, and non hitting it. but im grateful for the one and only typhoon warning we had.

lastly, the Taiwanese people are indeed friendly! haha.

And when the training ends, there was admin hell as expected, but life was certainly better, with hell lot of food ordered every night haha.

R&R day 1! : we went to 九族文化村 for its rides. sadly the UFO ride was closed and the most fun ride we had was the fast 360 degree rollar coaster. Justin dropped his wallet during the ride and emo-ed for like the rest of the time there, but luckily it was found when the rides were closed to search for lost items. there was alot of school kids there too... how i envy their schools, the students have long hair, color here and there, and gets to go to theme parks.

Then we went to the earthquake musuem. it was certainly as boring as u can expect it to be, but there again we see many school kids. makes me really wonder they study at all or not?? haha. The destroyed school was really nice to see, too bad i din have any cameras with me =/

for free and easy we went to xi men ting, its like their orchard road. alot of shops there, alot of people there. din manage to find anything i like there thou.

R&R day 2 : another theme park, this time it has less rides, but some interesting animals to show. the white tiger was sleeping when we visited it -.- the sheeps were ultra hungry as whenever people enter its area, they will crowded around (because the people will feed them with the 20nt food) haha the toucan was dam impressive to see in real life =)

九份! its the nicest place to go of all! haha its a town built entirely on the slope of a mountain. everywhere is stairs and the shops and like along the stairs. thats not the most weird part thou. we climbed all the way up to the top, only to realised its a freaking primary school on top! which saddist came up with the idea to build the school on top of a mountain to make the poor kids go up and down the stairs everyday man... haha the 芋圆 was nice, dam Q and together with the nice scenery the seats have, facing the seaside below us. oh and when we went there, there was a typhoon nearby, so the wind there was really dam strong. the stronger winds can easily make a person lose balance. bought quite alot of food there.

基隆 was the place we went for dinner. its the seaside that we saw when we were up at jiu fen. there was quite alot of seafood restaurants there... ok there nothing much there in fact. oh ya, the view of jiu fen in the night from ji long was great, its like alot of stars on the slope of the hill. haha

fne again, this time we went to the famous shilin night market. its like less night marketish than i expected because the food stalls really had shop houses, not like pasar malam type. the clothes there are quite nice and cheap (thou very lousy quality). spent alot of my money there X_X

day 3: went to wu fen pu at the wrong time. shops were closed and everything is so boring there. then we went to xin guang san yue, some departmental store famous in taiwan. haha its not really interesting other than the lift ladies there. then we went shopping in ximen ting again, well i guess its the nicest place to shop in the day afterall haha. many people as per usual. oh and taiwan trains also us ez link card, and their one way ticket is in the shape of a coin, that you have to scan to go in and drop into the gate to go out. interesting.

flew back to sg at 930, landed at 130am. dam shag le hahah

Good bye sg, for 3 weeks.
Friday, August 20, 2010 /6:39 PM

3 more hours to going out of home, 5 more to reporting, 8 more to flying off. The present me is filled with uncertainties. How am i going to adapt there? How tough will the training be? Can i get to R&R safely?

But the most problem that trouble me the most: being disconnected from the world i know, for 3 weeks. I had experienced not going home for 2 weeks +, and the withdrawal symptom of not slping on my bed was obvious... i really will miss my bed.

I will try my best, to do my part there so as to not make trouble. i really hope i can enjoy the training as much as i did in grandslam! haha the UO was enjoyable afterall XD. but this time there's no UO. D=

Of course, right after this 3 weeks of shagness, im going to start with my plan; getting an aim and gain some skills within this NS time =). i cant wait for what's awaiting us after this trip to taiwan. im going to lead a more fulfilling life!

Haha a quote i stumbled upon on a blog of a aslc-er : 万事俱备 只欠台风 <-- bullseye man.

Let my training start well, progress well and end well - Roz

The life you have today is the result of many, countless decisions you have made in your life. I believe this is what many of you know, but i realised something more; the decisions made earlier in life more often than not causes a greater impact on life later.

After a talk with my wushu seniors in mac on sunday, i realised what they say is true. The 2 years in army, be it u do nothing or do something, has to be wasted in army. Many things you can do now should be done, because if not you might not have to chance to do it when the no. of commitments increases in uni. 2 years isn't short, and it is probably enough to build a strong foundation in anything that i am interested in.

But i am still like what i was, a procrastinator, that dreams but does nothing. No matter how much i want to get myself now something to commit on, to build up within these 2 years, another part of me will tell me, get it done after taiwan. So thats it, i MUST, within the 3 weeks in taiwan, find out what i really want to do, and start immediately after coming back.

3 things i want to improve within the 2 years: my fitness, my skills in many areas which i will think up in taiwan and my social circle, which i see is pathetically small.

2 years, maybe it isn't that enough afterall.

2 weeks of slackz
Monday, August 9, 2010 /11:42 AM

The worst of singapore has passed! woah i have been slacking so much this week that i din update, hope i can still remember what happened XD.

wahaha grandslam 2 ended rather well with funny road control point scenarios. Especially the epic win by rioters in one of the other platoon's scenario. the heli ride was considerably long and enjoyable =). being able to see to msia, around singapore from high above the ground is always a good feeling =). and yea, chinook's back is nv closed fully haha. Oh and i will nv forget how shag it is to carry a bloody manpack and route march =/

For the week after grandslam,
Sun: Platoon live firing was NOT the main part i think is memorable. Its the setting up of the target boards for the support fire base. the slope is SOOO steep and hard to knock the target boards into. it was really tough =.= why din the rain rain throughout the day? din we all pray enuf T_T. i sprained my left leg twice and yea its still painful up till now.

Mon: slacking day. doing practically nothing but prepare for 32k CSB march. and really did nothing. perhaps monopoly dealed a few times.

Tues: the revision for the march was quiteeeee redundant. and yep well needed rest was given so as to fuel the 32k march in the night. started marching at arnd 2010 along the new route which i think is btr XD. 2 rounds around the camp was boring but the 2nd 4km was not bad as there was more songs. the march was conducted at near OC pace =.= and rest was only 15mins unless there is a station (luckily weapon handling station took up quite alot of time)

Wed: continued marching and (insufficient) rest time was given. Thnx to donovan who continuously listened to my senseless talks, i feel less tired until the last 8k or so. haha thats when the fatigue sets in. blisters start to feel more painful, the previous sprain acts up again, lack of brain juice to continue talking. luckily it was only 8km left, in which there was a long rest time for river crossing. just to note, my fieldpack totally would have failed the waterproofing part, i suppose my bayonet poked a hole in the plastic bag ba =(. and HAHA i bobo-ed for the last shooting part, 5/10 XD. but oh well its still a pass and soon i will get my cute lil rifle on my chest =)

Oh ya i nearly forgot. we went for nights out despite being in a near-dead condition XD. Night out rocks XD.

Thurs. recovery day. supposed that night out could have started at 12noon, we had ours at 5+. sigh why cant army just let us enjoy? so we practically 'area cleaned' from 12 to 5. Ate at crystal jade, which i made a big mistake ordering the cold spicy chicken. DAM SPICY CAN, so in the end my buddies split up the food while i koped abit of theirs too. Went on to eat Mr bean's peanut pancake, dam nice and filling and cheap =).

Fri: SOC was great because i din have to do it XDDDD. well good news is that our bunk all passed soc =). the NE presentation was crap and due to some guy without commonsense we were forced to listen to OC's speeches until book out was delayed again from 12 to like 1230++. sigh but not like i have anything on too. XD

Sat: Mahjong-ed at my house =D. really long time since i last saw yiping and yi wei and bayz XD. yiwei grew really tall, sigh why am i like the only one still stuck at 173 =/. yiping was on owning spree b4 lunch and after lunch, i think i was the one XD. i had a hand so good that it was ting4 pai2 once i got it, and i won it at the 3rd round. dui dui hu! haha dam ownage, too bad not tian hu only. Went out with the usual gang at around 8pm (crazy eh). ate Just Acia while alvin was suffering from some withdrawal symptoms. haha went on to mac and talked about whether should we change our choice of course. i would i i have the choice =/ sigh accountancy was really what i preferred ba. but business is good too i guess =) hope the uni life as business student will improve my social skills and quick thinking =) kim yong's defn of value-add i guess

Sun: Went out with family to visit relatives. its my nephew's 1 month old celebration! haha din manage to take any pics with that cute lil guy thou. that house was at the pinnacle, apparently the tallest HDB block with a sky garden on top (50th floor). Well the bad thing is that even residents have to pay to visit the sky garden. Hm.. but the view on top is really good and will be even better at night. i visited it in the day so yea, pretty much was roasted by the sun. i could see bukit timah hill, sentosa, jurong island and the whole chinatown from there (outram park). so it was really quite nice. And also the cars and buses were so small its like miniature models. must really be rich to stay there =/

Now its mon! and im doing nothing. haha. 24+ hours more to book in and yea, meanwhile i should wait to celebrate the nation's bday ba! hope i can find something interesting to do =/

damn.
Sunday, July 25, 2010 /4:31 PM

time passes really fast eh? in 3 hrs time i will be booking in for one of the most scary part of aslc - the grandslam 2.

For this week, i can say it is really quite enjoyable =D

Monday was slack, learning about heli-ops was quite interesting.
Tues was supposed to be the day i do my SOC, but due to rain, it was cancelled and we spent most of the time lepaking in bunk XD

Wed, our CSB navi test. It was really a pity that we missed 1 checkpoint but we did manage to reach the end point right on time =D. Really funny how we tried to bash to the endpoint as fast as possible to reach the timing. Also, seeing the bridge so high above our heads, climbing down and up mini 'cliffs', seeing fireflies and also the run away from chasing flashlights (XD) was some interesting experience =)

Thurs: the day i PASSED my SOC =DDDDDDDDD and had my longest nights out. used it to play pool with jw and eat kfc with jw and sai. amazingly that day the radar was flashing quite often XD. you know what i mean =).

Fri: ultimate tekan day. which probably made us all see a point, when u tekan someone too much, it just has a negative effect. Had alot of fun playing bball and frisbee =D. cheering was good too with our considerably high morale. loading of grandslam stores was troublesome but luckily we had understanding pple who helped us out throughout and not slack.

Sports Day! was delayed due to cat 1, then volleyball and basketball was allowed, followed by 7min soccer matches which nearly always result in penalty kick to decide the victory. our road relay team indeed showed their imba power and truimphed as 1st. our bball team unfortunatedly lost in semi finals and clinched a 3rd placing. tug of war was funny that echo actually had a girl inside. i totally din care about the volleyball which obviously we got kicked out in the 1st round.

i felt that alpha cheer was great, and they probably should have been 1st for their effort and design. sai kang after the event was done pretty quickly and we got to book out at around 12. =D Juliet was 2nd placing in the event, only behind lima which i have no idea why they won =(.

Went out to eat with ky and ws, and realised how bad my voice was after the cheer, resulting in me not wanting to speak alot. talked about alot of random stuffs and per usual =).

Argh, now i have to prepare to book in, 1.5L of water and watch not settled yet. see how ba

???
Sunday, July 18, 2010 /12:57 PM

Ok i really cannot summarise this week's experience with a title.

Well it was indeed kinda fun to see new 'juniors' (who are same age as us -.-) to come into the sch. but seriously, what we know more than them is only 2 months more of experience here.

Lower mandai is really a unique experience. especially the dangerous swamps and thorns. bashing you way to the lights only to meet with a wall is a once in a lifetime kind of feeling man.

Well, am i actually an introvert or an extrovert? this is really hard to determine, afterall i like the company of friends, the feeling of being able to simply talk about anything with them. but again, many times i keep feelings to myself, comments remain in my head only. It turns out that even i myself find that im as boring as it can get to talk to, because the conversation will probably head to nowhere, aka no progress or get expected answers. I really want to understand myself more, why is it that i cannot voice out my thoughts.

well if anyone happen to be wondering why the sudden emo sort of post, its because i became aware of what is happening around me. how amazingly i can sort of blend into the surrounding and turn invisible. how my voice can be unheard no matter how hard i try. how i get lost trying to follow convos, and even if i dun get lost, the convo will be short because of my responses. how annoying i can get too.

i guess people shld really develop a manner of communicating with each other more effective than words alone.
